Design thinking and computer interfaces design

How to create better computer interfaces that are geared for certain attributes like learnability, discoverability, and usability?

You must have seen upcoming news on human-computer interaction and how design is implemented in it to please humans.

HCI has always been a part of technology and design, but it is becoming increasingly crucial as technology gets more integrated into our daily lives. Design thinking is perfect for user-friendly human-centred designs as well as to communicate technology to users in a natural and intuitive way. There are a few core principles that describe design thinking. HCI aids in the creation of interfaces for safety-critical systems that boost productivity, improve user experience, and decrease hazards. The ease with which a beginner user may learn to engage with a system is determined by learnability and familiarity factors.

How do you use it?

HCI is a vast area with applications in nearly every sector. User-centred design (UCD), user interface (UI) design, and user experience (UX) design are all fields that frequently overlap. HCI is sometimes seen as the predecessor to UX design.

The following are some of the research applications in this field:

  • How to create better computer interfaces that are geared for certain attributes like learnability, discoverability, and usability?
  • How to assess and compare the usability of various user interfaces?
  • How can you tell if a user is human or not?
  • What methods may be used to investigate the socio-cultural consequences of human-computer interactions?

I bet, you must have come across its usage in these industries:

  • Virtual and augmented reality
  • Context-sensitive computing and ubiquitous computing in healthcare
  • Technologies for education
  • Cybersecurity and security
  • Voice user interfaces and technology for fast recognition

Therefore, this was my insights into design thinking and its convergence with computer interfaces design.
